Sustainable Fisheries Group was establised in 2019 at the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Bergen. We are part of the Theoretical Ecology Group, and you can find more about our work and recent publications in there.
In the Sustainable Fisheries Group we work for ensuring sustainable use of marine resources in the era of Anthropocene. We use modelling tools to understand patterns observed in nature, look for mechanisms that cause differences in for example life histories and population dynamics, formulate hypotheses with the help of theoretical models, and when possible, test these hypotheses with data from the nature – to further refine the models to better reflect the nature. We strive to contribute towards the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG14 – Life below water.
